Chevron Financial is a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) domiciled in the state of North Carolina.  We operate on the principles of being honest, upfront, direct, and transparent.  We take a comprehensive approach to financial advising and financial planning, going beyond traditional retirement planning to add value to major decisions like home purchases, car purchases, budgeting, and anything else clients feel they need input on.  Chevron Financial was founded after seeing too many people positioned in high fee products with underperforming returns and getting little to no real financial advice along the way.  We provide clients with assistance in whatever areas they are looking for help, both within the scope of traditional investment advising and without.

At Chevron Financial our passion is to help people define and achieve their version of financial success through a process of risk analysis, performance evaluation, and periodic review.  Our core values are to be:

  • Honest, upfront, direct, and transparent
  • Willing to go above and beyond for every client, every time
  • Driven to do what is in the best interest of the client, always

Our goal is to be a trusted partner of our clients and provide a single source for help, even in areas we cannot directly help ourselves.  Our mission is to help you earn your chevrons, whether that's saving enough to retire, developing confidence in the way you're taking retirement funds, planning as a young adult to be in a great place later in life, buying a dream home, or growing a legacy to leave to your family.  We use personal knowledge, industry leading technology, and hard work to make investment decisions and create financial plans tailored to each client.

What Does Chevron Mean?

A chevron is a shape like an inverted V and originally comes from the shape rafters make in a roof.  It has several meanings that led to its use in our name:

  1. a reward or recognition for a significant achievement;
  2. a shield;
  3. waves on a body of water;
  4. protection against the elements, like a roof;
  5. in the form of arrow to direct one away from danger.

Chevrons as an award are used to signify meeting a difficult or significant objective.  In sailing chevrons are awarded to the top three finishers in major events.  A national champion has three gold chevrons on his/her sail for the rest of his/her life.  In the financial world it can mean meeting a goal in saving for retirement, putting a child through college, building a legacy large enough to sustain itself, buying a home, or anything important to someone.

Investing and financial planning are also about managing risk appropriately for each person and Chevron is in the business of protecting against unnecessary risk.  We don't believe in a one-size fits all approach and don't place clients into simple buckets of low, medium, and high risk tolerance.  We take an individual approach to the attributes of each client's financial life and guide them to protect from unwarranted and/or excessive risk and onto a path to with a high likelihood of meeting their goals.

In his spare time Brad is an avid sailor, racing small sailboats across the country.  In 2018 he won the Thistle Class National Championship in Westport, CT, a dream he long thought unreachable.  The risk/reward analytical nature of sailing has a great number of similarities with investing and advising.  Brad gives back to the sport by coaching sailors of all ages.  He is also very active in his local community with service work for men in need.  In 2022 he married his wife Lauren and they spend their time at home with their Bernedoodle Bentley.  Brad has a variety of other interests and can often be found watching the Vols, at the racetrack, at the lake, or trying to do something new.
